The device is designed for sports enthusiasts like mountain climbers, skiers, bikers, aviators or anyone interested in measuring their Blood Oxygen Saturation Levels (SpO2) and Pulse Rate.
Each wave (see image) corresponds to a heart beat and the wave amplitude corresponds to the amount of blood detected. If the wave amplitude is low, this means that your blood perfusion is too low for a reliable read. You should retake your measurement and make sure that your finger is positioned right under the LED lights.
The plethysmograph provides a visual representation of your heartbeat and the amount of blood flowing through your blood vessels. Helps determine the optimal time to take a reading.

Q: The multi-directional display option is not working properly. The screen always stays in one position. How can I fix this problem?
A: When the pulse oximeter is on, simply press and release the power button to rotate the screen.
Q: Why does the reading fluctuate and why is the reading different on different fingers?
A: It is normal and natural for your SpO2 and/or Pulse rate to fluctuate as the amount of arterial blood pulses and changes with each heartbeat. Also, unlike a thermometer, which gives you a snapshot of your vitals at a particular moment, the pulse oximeter measures your vitals in real-time. A ±3% fluctuation in your SpO2 is considered normal.
Q: When I bought the device months ago, it worked. But it doesn’t now. I put fresh batteries but that the pulse ox still does not come on. What could be the problem?
A: The battery placement for the pulse oximeter is different, in that even though the 2 springs are on the same side, the 2 batteries are still required to be installed in opposite polarity. If this doesn't work, you might have received a defective unit. Please contact the manufacturer to get a free replacement.
Q: Can the 500E Pulse Oximeter be used on children?
A: Yes. However, we highly recommend using our children pediatric pulse oximeter (B01IDMQK96) instead which is specifically made for children. The finger chamber of the 500E Pulse Oximeter may be too big for children with small fingers. This might affect the accuracy of the reading.
