  • WEATHERPROOF - Vent holes are cut at an upward angle to keep rainwater out. Door and floor are recessed by 3/4" to keep the nest dry. Dado joints keep this birdhouse dry and less drafty.
  • WELL-BUILT - Made from 3/4" thick cedar wood. A stainless-steel guard protects the entry hole from squirrels and woodpeckers. A 1" thick wooden guard thwarts predators like cats and raccoons. Holes in the floor allow for waste drainage.
  • EASY TO INSTALL - With a bottom hinged door to allow for easy cleanout. This is a great nest box for creating a trail of multiple bird houses to attract different species.
  • BIRDS LOVE IT - Inspired by the very successful Gilwood and XBOX birdhouses. This nesting box has a floor size of 4.25" x 3.5" (15 square inch), and a 1.5" entry hole that is suitable for Eastern Bluebirds and many other species.
  • TRUSTED QUALITY - Designed by a family of bird watchers. No corners were cut or cheap materials were used in making this bird house. We stand by the quality of this bird box and we are confident that it will last longer than other bird houses for outside!

Premium cedar bird houses nestbox

Why do songbirds need my support? Bluebirds and other cavity-nesting species typically seek natural cavities to build their nests, such as in old trees or woodpecker holes. But they have been facing increasing levels of habitat loss due to deforestation, land commercialization, and aggressive competition by invasive bird species for the same nesting sites. A great way to bring back and boost local populations is to put up a well-built bird house (aka nestbox), or a trail of them.

Why install a bird house? Because that would support several bird species in your area while you get to enjoy a yard with fewer mosquitos! Songbirds will also enhance your garden’s ambience with their beautiful songs and playfulness. And bird-watching is known to have positive effects on mental health.

How many will I need? It depends on the size of your property. For a small backyard, mounting two bird houses 5-20 feet apart will allow two different species to nest in them peacefully (e.g. Bluebirds in one and Tree Swallows, Titmice, Wrens or Chickadees in the other). For larger properties, you can create a bluebird trail of any size by mounting nestboxes about 300 feet apart, in singles or in pairs.

Would any bird house do? Not quite! You need a high-quality nestbox that is well-built to sustain the weather, well ventilated, has features to thwart predators, and that is designed to attract songbirds and give them the shelter they need.

WHITEHORSE is proud to present its new collection of bird houses for outdoors. Our premium cedar birdhouses are built to satisfy bluebirds, and you!

Would any floor size do?

Not quite. Cavity size is one of the main factors that will determine the attractiveness of a nestbox to songbirds. And experienced birders have discovered that eastern bluebirds tend to prefer a floor size around 15 square inch, while western and mountain bluebirds prefer a floor around 22 square inch. We created a bluebird range map based on their year-round presence and migratory routes. Please select a floor size according to your region in the provided color map. If you live in an area where both eastern and western bluebirds are present, go with the larger floor!

nestbox predator guard, extended entrance hole, metal guard, raccoon guard, cat guard, bird house

Predator Guards

We extended the entry hole by 1" and added a stainless steel guard to prevent squirrels and woodpeckers from enlarging it. We also created a set of 5 metal guards (not included) that will make it easier for you to change the hole size to attract or exclude different bird species.

Better Drainage

We created this unique sloped floor design to slide waste towards the drain holes. Tip: remember to keep the drain holes unclogged from any nesting material.

A Second Floor

A stainless steel floor beneath the nest allows for blowfly larvae to fall through to the drain holes.

watertight birdhouse, rainproof and windproof joints

Weatherproof Joints

Did you know? A wet nest is one of the most common reasons that a nestbox fails. So to prevent windswept rain from entering the box, we constructed the joints in dado-style to make them wind- and rain-proof. We also drilled the vent holes on the sides at an upward angle!
