Is this filter system quiet?
Yes. The filter itself has no moving parts, so it's almost silent. Any noise you hear comes from your external pump, not the filter. With a quality pump and proper setup, the whole system is very quiet.
Is the filter easy to replace?
The sponges are reusable — you can simply backwash them when needed. If you need to replace them, just open the lid, remove the old sponges, and insert new ones.
How long does the light last? What causes it to fail early?
The light lasts about 8,000 hours (3–8 months with normal use). Early failure usually happens when water gets in through a poorly sealed O‑ring – dry the compartment and reseal the O-ring correctly.
How to prevent backflush knob from leaking or breaking?
Don't overtighten – turn gently and only in one direction. Keep the knob in FILTER mode when not backflushing. If it leaks, check the O‑ring alignment and lubricate it with silicone grease. If it breaks, ask for a replacement.
