Enhances Teak's Natural Color

Exposure to sun, rain, and moisture can cause teak to fade, gray, and lose its natural beauty over time. Danish Teak Sealer helps preserve the rich golden appearance of teak while providing protection against staining and weather-related discoloration for a cleaner, well-maintained look.

Brush or Wipe for a Beautiful Finish

For great results, there are a few teak sealer best practices to follow:

Proper Prep

  • Restore Weathered Teak: If teak has turned gray, clean it with TotalBoat Teak Cleaner before sanding to restore the wood's natural appearance.
  • Sand with the Grain: Sand teak smooth using 220-grit sandpaper, always following the direction of the grain for best results and even absorption.
  • Remove Dust & Residue: Vacuum thoroughly, wipe with a tack cloth, then clean the surface using a lint-free rag dampened with denatured alcohol before application.

Application Tips

  • Stir Thoroughly Before Use: Mix Danish Teak Sealer completely before application to ensure even color and performance.
  • Apply by Brush or Rag: Brush or wipe on with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth. Let the sealer soak into the wood for 20–30 minutes, then wipe away any excess product with a clean cloth.
  • Allow Time to Recoat: If a second coat is needed, allow the first coat to dry for 8-12 hours.Scuff the surface lightly with a scouring pad before recoating.

Recoating & Maintenance

  • Only 1-2 Coats Needed: New wood requires two coats to ensure long-lasting protection. Use 1-2 coats for routine seasonal maintenance.
  • Easy to Keep Clean: Use TotalBoat Boat Soap and water to keep clean throughout the season or to prepare for maintenance coats.
  • Refresh As Needed: Re-apply maintenance coats when the rich, natural teak color begins to fade. Frequency varies based on climate, sun exposure, and usage conditions.
