There is a substantial size difference between melanogaster and hydei Fruit Flies; because of this, their dietary needs are different. We will always recommend to use the proper media when culturing fruit flies yourself. When culturing with the wrong media, it is more important than ever to closely monitor the temperature and humidity of the cultures.
