CrystalClear AlgaeOff is an EPA registered granular algacide that works on contact! AlgaeOff utilizes the latest in oxygen technology to remove and kill string algae quickly and efficiently on rocks, stream beds, pond liners, and waterfalls.
In addition to string algae control, CrystalClear AlgaeOff adds oxygen to your pond and removes odors. Great for use in ponds containing koi and goldfish.
Identify where the string algae infestation is within the pond. Then apply the prescribed amount directly to the algae in dry form. A slight fizzing will occur as the product starts to work. Seconds later you should see algae completely removed from the area treated.
String algae, a type of filamentous algae, forms long green strings that cling to rocks and pond liner. String algae grows in moving water and can often be found in waterfalls and stream beds.
When used at the first sign of string algae, AlgaeOff will help keep problems from growing out of control. Heavy accumulations of algae may take two or more applications for complete removal.
Water Gardens:
Apply AlgaeOff algae remover directly over the infested area in granular form. Surface should be wet or water should be applied immediately following application. For waterfall applications, turn off waterfall pumps and allow AlgaeOff algae remover to sit on the waterfall for a period of 20 minutes and then turn pumps back on.
Skim the dead algae or organic material that rises to the water's surface after treatment. This will keep dead organics from sinking to the bottom of the pond. Dead and decaying organics provide a food source and additional nutrients for future algae blooms. Allow 48 hours between consecutive treatments.
For liquid applications, please follow all label instructions. Due to solubility, AlgaeOff is not as effective with this application method.
Ponds & Lakes:
Treat floating or submerged algae mats evenly from shoreline out. If the majority of your pond is covered during hot weather or when treating heavy growth, it is important to treat no more than 1/4 of your pond at a time and wait the full 14 days before re-applying. This helps lower the risk of fish loss during hot weather or when treating heavy growth. Heavy growth may require re-treatment.
When to Apply
AlgaeOff algae remover should be used any time string algae has accumulated on rocks, streams and waterfalls. Water temperature has no effect on AlgaeOff algae remover but higher temperatures enhance effectiveness. Great for use in ponds containing koi and goldfish.
Precautions
After application, do not allow undiluted AlgaeOff granular algaecide granules to remain in an area where humans or animals are exposed. Make sure all granules have been sprayed with water to fully dissolve.
Usage Near Wildlife
To ensure that this product will be not harm any wildlife, we recommend diluting the powdered AlgaeOff granular algaecide in a 5 gallon bucket prior to entering the pond. This product can only harm wildlife if the granular is left undiluted / doesn't come in to contact with water so as long as this product is diluted in the water, birds and pets can drink out of the water feature without harm. We recommend keeping the lid on the product when not in use to prevent birds or other animals from digesting the granular out of the container.
Does AlgaeOff work on all algae types?
AlgaeOff works on contact to kill string algae, also known as hair algae. You can also use AlgaeOff on floating algae mats. It will not treat planktonic algae that causes green water or Chara. If you're looking for broad spectrum algae control, consider CrystalClear Algae D-Solv.
Is there a temperature restriction on this product?
No, there are no water temperature restrictions on this product. However, it is advised to use AlgaeOff in warmer temperatures when algae is actively growing. Sunlight and higher temperatures both enhance AlgaeOff’s effectiveness.
Can I use this when my waterfall is running?
It is recommended to turn off your water feature (including pump, waterfall, fountain, etc.) when applying this product as it works on contact. Effects of this treatment will be immediately apparent (bubbling, bleaching/discoloration of algae).
Can this product be used in my large, acreage-sized pond?
Yes, AlgaeOff is an EPA registered algaecide that can be used to treat string algae and floating algae mats in large ponds and lakes. See label for dosage and application methods. This product is not recommended for planktonic algae or Chara.
Will this algae remover harm my fish?
AlgaeOff does not contain copper. When used as directed, AlgaeOff is great for backyard ponds containing koi, goldfish, grass carp, and other fish. Will not harm animals when diluted in water. Always use in accordance with the label directions.
Can I get rid of algae without hurting my water lilies?
