          Why does the glass have a thin fine seam on the side is this normal. Machine molding vs blow molding.

          Machine molding is used for faster & more accurate shaping for glass manufacturing.

          Blow molding is used when the glass has a special shape which is not possible to make using machine molding

          The down side in blow molding verses machine molding is blow molding is done by hand where each glass will not look identical; one can be shorter, longer, and other imperfections arise along the way. The glass used in blow molding is also very thin and extremely fragile, causing more breakage. Machine molding allows for the use of a thick glass. The accuracy allowed by machine moulding makes it so every glass will look the same. It is moulded in pieces for most cases, such as this margarita glass. Its two half's are moulded separately by the machine. The two halves are then sealed together, and that's why you can see a fine seam on the side. This is normal procedure for all machine molded Glass.
