Goldfish, Shubunkins, Lionheads, Fantails
Goldfish including Shubunkins, Lionheads & Fantails can equally be fed with flakes or pellets. Flakes allow smaller fish to take smaller bites and floats on surface whereas pellets are easier to dose and sink to the bottom where larger goldfish naturally look for food. API Goldfish Food includes spirulina, to enhance the vibrant colors of your goldfish, as well as garlic for appetite appeal, and it contains brewers dried yeast to provide essential micronutrients.
Feeding Guide: Feed twice a day the amount of food your fish can eat in 2 minutes.
Most tropical fish can equally be fed with flakes or pellets. Flakes allow smaller fish to take smaller bites and float at the surface whereas pellets are easier to dose and sink to the bottom where some fish naturally look for food. API Tropical Flakes are ideal for community tanks with different species. API Tropical Pellets exist in two different sizes, therefore are suitable for smaller mouth fish such as Gouramis and baby Cichlids.
Feeding Guide: Feed twice a day the amount of food your fish can eat in 3 minutes.
Bottom Feeders, Catfish, Loaches
Some fish such as Catfish and Loaches are commonly called Bottom Feeders because they find their food at the bottom of the aquarium.
API Bottom Feeders are shrimp formulated sinking pellets that will fall directly to the bottom of the aquarium. Also suitable for Plecos.
Feeding Guide: Feed twice a day the amount of food your fish can eat in 30 minutes.
Algae Eaters, Plecos, Ancistrus, Otocinclus
Like other tropical fish, some bottom feeders such as Plecos, Ancistrus & Otocinclus are herbivorous, also called algae or plant-eating bottom feeder fish. They use algae as their main source of nutrients. API Algae Eater Wafers are designed for fish that would normally scrape algae off rocks, wood (or reef in the case of marine fish).
Feeding Guide: Feed twice a day the amount of food your fish can eat in 2 hours.

API Betta Fish Pellets are designed to float at the surface.
Feeding Guide: Feed twice a day the amount of food your fish can eat in 2 minutes.
Some tropical fish such as Swordtails, Mollies, Guppies naturally eat plants or algae. They are called 'herbivorous' or 'algae or plant-eating fish'. These fish may eat unsightly algae but must have an additional source of food or they will starve. API Tropical Green Flakes are rich in algae and are also suitable for herbivorous cichlids such as Tropheus & Mbuna.
Feeding Guide: Feed twice a day the amount of food your fish can eat in 3 minutes.
Cichlid fish, including Angelfish, Discus, Oscar, and Convict cichlids have become increasingly popular as aquarium fish. If fish is larger your hand (~ 5 inches), we recommend API Cichlid Large Pellets. API Cichlid Pellets are floating pellets formulated with a wide range of natural ingredients to meet the nutritional requirements of Cichlids.
Feeding Guide: Feed twice a day the amount of food your fish can eat in 3 minutes.
Marine fish, also known as saltwater fish, are known for their vibrant colors and beauty and comprise many species including Butterfly fish, Cardinalfish, Clownfish, and Lionfish. API MARINE Flakes are developed with a highly nutritious formula that contains essential Omega-3 fatty acids in addition to spirulina algae to enhance vibrant colors of fish.
