After a period of use, the tip of the wick will become carbonized and blackened. It should be trimmed evenly using specialized wick scissors to ensure optimal capillary function and combustion performance.
The wick must be replaced promptly with an original or specification-matched part when it becomes too short (and can no longer be trimmed), damaged, deformed, or fails to draw oil properly. Using inferior or mismatched wicks can pose serious safety hazards.
For long-term storage, empty the fuel tank or lower the wick back into it to prevent it from drying out and becoming brittle.
